It all started in 20** (the specific year isn’t important) with a show called “The J** B***** P*******”.
Then Spotify and Barstool got in on it. And then they legalized gambling (sponsorship $$) and then the ESPN money started drying up so the retired athletes had nowhere to go.
Before we all could get our bearings, the founder of the aforementioned program had become the “Stephen A” of rap music takes, a role “the culture” never asked for, and suddenly he’d swapped out his co-hosts in the dead of night on some Luka for AD shit in a scandal for the ages.
That was only the beginning of the chaos. Within a couple of years the entire cultural landscape devolved into what we have today: a clusterfuck of round tables, cables, and MV7X Mics.
Me personally, I’m a hater, so I’ll never come around to how things are now. A world where you can’t even get a fit off or have a secret love child without someone somewhere getting the production team together for a ten minute monologue about it and how it impacts “the culture”.
The only good thing to come out of all this? Cam & Mase linked back up after like thirty years. Literally the only good thing. Also shoutout to Jeff Teague. But seriously it has to stop. Please.
